afternoon sun over el chorro
No, we don’t have horses, but we had two lovely dogs until about half a year ago.

They were very lovely in our eyes, but sadly they became the menace of the mountain the year they lived with us as they managed to kill at least two dogs and a cat. The thought of what could happen next, that they were not young dogs anymore and that we did not want to keep them chained or locked up and asking the vet for advice brought us to the decision to have them euthanized. It was oh so tough.

We think we will have dogs again, but we will wait until Spring … and we are going the get puppies next time.

  1. so sad, Dorte! our neighbors had the same problem with a dog they got as a puppy – don’t mean to discourage you, though! animals that live with us, pets, need to be tamable, and not all animals are, dogs included.

  2. So sorry for your loss! However, the dogs were lucky to experience love in your home and that you cared enough not to allow them to suffer. Hugs.

  3. So sorry about having to have decided that….but puppies will come with sunny days…and meanwhile, those horses are beautiful ;)

  4. never nice to lose your pet…..
with spring and some sunshine…well maybe you will have your puppies!
the horse is really looking at me!

  5. Oh! So so sorry about the dogs – they were beautiful! How sad, and what a terribly difficult choice. I do hope you’re able to have new ones. It’s the only way to fill the void they leave behind, I’ve found. Make sure to share with us when you do!
